Museum

fiskeutstyr og temarom om marin vitenskap, som "Life in a Drop of Water" og "From Light to
Life."
Located in Nha Trang, the Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam is Vietnam’s first national marine
museum and a prominent attraction for those interested in the world of the sea. Part of the Institute
of Oceanography, founded by the French in 1922, the museum is housed in a grand colonial
building on Cau Da Street, about 5 km from Nha Trang’s city centre. It is known for its extensive
collection of over 20,000 marine specimens, including tropical fish, rare species such as dugongs
(manatees), and an impressive 18-metre-long skeleton of a humpback whale.
The museum is spread over two floors: the ground floor houses aquariums with live marine animals
such as sharks, turtles, lionfish and colourful corals, while the upper floor displays preserved
specimens, fishing equipment and themed rooms on marine science, such as “Life in a Drop of
Water” and “From Light to Life.” The exhibitions focus on environmental education and Vietnam’s
marine biodiversity, including resources from the East Sea and the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos.
